Camping de Berken is closed in the months between 1 October and 1 April. But even during the months we are open, it can sometimes be cold. Want to make sure you don't get cold during cold days/nights? Then follow our tips to at least not get too cold during your camping trip:

Keep yourself dry

Number one: keep yourself dry. If you go for a walk with wet shoes, for example, you will soon end up in trouble. Moisture cools down your body, which is the only source of heat you have. You should therefore do everything possible to keep your body as dry as possible.

Therefore, only use waterproof hiking boots and make sure you also wear waterproof outerwear. Ideally, you should also choose ventilated underclothing, because otherwise you will soon start sweating and yes - that too is moisture. Finally, only sleep in dry clothes and ventilate your tent well: the air you breathe is also damp.

Allow for empty space

In cold conditions, every degree can make a difference. It is therefore important to be smart and, for example, also take into account the physical laws of empty space. Void space is all the space between your body and clothing, and the smaller this space is, the easier it is to warm up.

Therefore, choose tight-fitting (but comfortable) clothes that follow the line of your body as closely as possible. And sleep in a small tent so that you warm up the space more easily with your body heat. Finally, use a close-fitting hooded mummy sleeping bag that you can pull tight so that you lose as little heat through your head as possible.

Keep yourself warm

You can dress yourself as warm as you like; if you lie down on the ground in a snowstorm at -10, for example, you are obviously in trouble. Your own body is the only natural source of heat you have with you, so it is important to keep it warm at all times. After all, staying warm is a lot easier than getting warm.

Therefore, keep moving as much as possible, let your hair grow and eat regularly to keep your metabolism going. The smallest details can help maintain your body heat. And do you still get cold? Then think about the warm days ahead at Camping de Berken. Surely you're warming up for that too!
